Description

This is a small village nested within the forested mountainous region of Chiapas, Mexico (located just outside of the city of San Cristobal de las Casas).

It is one of the villages of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional, EZLN).

EZLN is a revolutionary leftist group using non-violent methods to fight for indigenous rights in Mexico, rights which have been systematically violated by the Mexican government and transnational corporations.

The EZLN's main activist tools are holistic education for its younger generation, promotion of women's rights and local sustainable economic development.
